Have you ever dreamed of stepping into a world where magic happens every day? At Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, California, that dream becomes a reality! Imagine walking through the doors where talented artists create the beloved characters and films we all adore. Now, picture those Disney Animation characters coming to life right before your eyes!
This enchanting experience is at the heart of the Emmy Award-winning short film, “Once Upon A Studio.” Excitingly, this film will inspire a brand-new attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Get ready for “The Magic of Disney Animation,” a family-friendly experience that will immerse you in the wonder of animation like never before. It’s a perfect addition to your next magical getaway with Kyle Vacations!

What Is “The Magic of Disney Animation”?
Get ready for a magical transformation in 2026! The current home of Star Wars: Launch Bay is set to be reimagined into a vibrant space where kids and the young at heart can laugh, draw, dream, and dive into thrilling new animated experiences. Atop the building, you’ll spot Mickey’s iconic Sorcerer Hat, just like the one in California, spreading a sprinkle of pixie dust and enchantment all around.
The adventure in this newly designed space kicks off with animators taking a little break, but don’t worry—the building will be buzzing with life as your favorite characters come alive and are ready to join in on the fun!
Inside, you’ll get to explore whimsical takes on the famous Disney Animation headquarters, featuring different studio departments. This time, some of Disney's cherished characters have taken charge to create unforgettable adventures just for you.
Every corner holds playful and interactive surprises! You’ll see portraits spring to life just like in “Once Upon A Studio,” find inspiration in a short film (with a fun twist!), and even have the chance to learn how to sketch your very own character. It’s going to be an experience you won’t want to miss!

The youngest animators-to-be can explore the “Drawn to Wonderland” playground, filled with an oversized flower garden featuring musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset, and a Tulgey Wood exploration area—all inspired by the original “Alice in Wonderland” concept art from Disney Legend Mary Blair. It’ll be the perfect whimsical indoor play area for little ones to grow “curiouser and curiouser!”
With all those places to explore and create, there will also be character greetings… and there are lots! The whole family will be drawn to all the creative ways to play together when “The Magic of Disney Animation” opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios next year. Get ready for an unforgettable adventure!

The Walt Disney Studios Lot Comes to Life at Hollywood Studios
Get ready for some magical changes at the Sorcerer’s Hat! The enchantment is spreading beyond “The Magic of Disney Animation” as Hollywood Studios transforms the entire courtyard into “The Walt Disney Studios.”
This exciting update draws inspiration from the iconic buildings in Burbank, giving a heartfelt nod to the legendary Walt Disney Studios Lot. You’ll still find the beloved Studio Theater, where “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” will continue to delight audiences, and don’t miss the new Disney Jr. show at the soundstage!
As you wander through the studio grounds and courtyard, there’s plenty of space for families to unwind, play, or enjoy some delicious snacks under the shade of lush trees. Keep your eyes peeled—you never know who might be hanging out in the branches, soaking up the sun, or exploring the grass!
The talented Disney Animation artists and Walt Disney Imagineers are collaborating to infuse the courtyard with the magic and nostalgia of Disney Animation films in ways that families will adore. We can’t wait for you to step into this fantastical space in 2026!
As they gear up for this exciting transformation, please note that Animation Courtyard and Disney Jr. Play and Dance! will be closing starting September 25, 2025. But don’t worry! You can still dive under the sea with Ariel in “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” and enjoy the exhibits and film presentation at Walt Disney Presents during this time.
