Dreaming of turquoise waters, soft white-sand beaches, and a touch of Disney magic? Welcome to Disney’s Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, Disney Cruise Line’s newest private destination in the Bahamas. Opened in 2024, this island retreat combines Bahamian culture, stunning natural beauty, and that signature Disney storytelling we all know and love. If you have a cruise booked here—or you’re thinking about it—this guide will walk you through everything you need to know.

What Is Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point?

Lighthouse Point, Disney's second island destination, is located on the beautiful island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas, about 120 miles south of Disney Castaway Cay in the Caribbean. Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point welcomed Disney Cruise Line guests starting June 7, 2024.

This exciting project was unveiled at the D23 Expo in 2019 when Disney announced plans for a new Bahamian island destination. With the introduction of three new Triton Class ships to the Disney Cruise Line fleet, including the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and the newly-announced Disney Destiny (launching November 2025), this tropical retreat marks a significant milestone in Disney Cruise Line's rapid growth!

Earlier that year, Disney acquired the Bahamian-owned Lighthouse Point and reached an agreement with the Government of The Bahamas. Emphasizing environmentally responsible development, Disney's vision is to authentically honor the Bahamian people and their vibrant culture. In keeping with this commitment, less than 20% of the land will be developed, and construction will follow sustainable practices.

Furthermore, Disney's dedication goes beyond the resort limits, as the company generously contributed 190 acres of the land to the local government, guaranteeing that local residents will also have access to Lighthouse Point.

Which Disney Cruise Ships Visit Lookout Cay?

Lookout Cay is featured on a variety of Bahamian and Caribbean itineraries. You’ll see stops here on sailings from Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale aboard ships like the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish, Disney Magic, and soon the brand-new Disney Destiny in 2025. Itineraries range from quick three-night escapes to weeklong adventures, sometimes even including double-dip cruises that visit both Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay on the same sailing.

Lighthouse Point Beaches & Activities

Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is a tropical beach day destination tailored for families, couples, and solo adult travelers. Here's what awaits you during your visit.

  • Mabrika Cove: Paying tribute to the indigenous people of the Bahamas, "Mabrika" means "Welcome" in Bahamian. Guests are greeted with a genuine Bahamian cultural welcome, showcasing the islands' warmth and hospitality.

  • Mabrika Cove Cabanas: Another beach area on the island's southwest shore offers premium family cabanas for rent, including double cabanas for larger groups. Advance reservations are highly recommended.

  • Goombay Cultural Center: At the Goombay Cultural Center, you can experience the Bahamian "Junkanoo" festival. RUSH! A Junkanoo celebration features local Bahamian performers in an authentic Rush Out. The event begins with a parade full of music, singing, dancing, and drumming, culminating in a dance party with Disney characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy!

  • Play-Play Pavilion: For an ultimate beach party, join the Disney Fun in the Sun Beach Bash. Disney characters host beach games for the whole family, accompanied by Bahamian versions of classic Disney songs.

    • Goofy's Good Day Limbo

    • Pluto's Pineapple Ring Toss

    • Chip-n-Dale's Water Brigade

  • Triton's Trumpet Stage: Triton's Trumpet Stage offers family entertainment on the island. Named after the iconic Bahamian seashell, "Triton's Trumpet," it also connects with King Triton from Disney's "The Little Mermaid."

  • Treasures of Eleuthera: Treasures of Eleuthera is a shop selling locally crafted gifts and artisan items.

  • Disney T'ings: Purchase exclusive Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point merchandise, including Junkanoo-inspired items like a spirit jersey, Loungefly backpack, and Mickey and Minnie plush toys. Also available is a tropical Minnie Mouse ear headband by designer Theodore Elyett. Two additional merchandise locations are on the island.

    • First & Last Chance Stand

    • Plaits & Pleats (hair braiding)

  • Family Beach: A large beach area on the east end of Eleuthera, featuring buffet-style dining and recreational activities.

  • Additional Amenities:

    • Turbot Berth - Charter Boat Check-in

    • Flippers & Fins - Snorkel Rentals

    • Rocky Point - Bicycle Rentals

Dining at Lighthouse Point

On the island, you can savor lunch with breathtaking ocean views beneath a pavilion inspired by shells, with architecture influenced by Eleuthera's local artists. The main dining venues include True-True BBQ and True-True Too BBQ, while Serenity Bay BBQ caters exclusively to adults. Disney Cruise Line is dedicated to sustainability and aims for zero landfill waste, so all food and beverage outlets use reusable service ware, including stainless steel cups. The buffets typically operate from noon to 2 p.m., so be sure to visit before they close!

What's cookin'? Here's a glimpse at some menu items inspired by Bahamian recipes and American classics:

  • Bahamian Pigeon Peas & Rice with marinated chicken, oven-baked plantains, and fried okra

  • Grilled Cheeseburger on a brioche bun with shredded iceberg lettuce, red onion, tomatoes, and pickles, served with french fries and American coleslaw

  • Disney Lookout Cay Spiced Rotisserie Chicken marinated with bay leaves, onion, sweet pepper, lime, thyme, and goat pepper, accompanied by grilled pineapple and black bean salad

  • Plant-based Island Curry with tofu, cilantro, and potatoes (plant-based)

  • Grilled BBQ Ribs with “smoky BBQ” sauce, grilled corn, and yucca fries

Relax and enjoy refreshing specialty beverages, including cocktails, mocktails, beer, and more at Mangroves and Go, Blue Hole Bar, Bow and Ribbon Bar, Watering Hole, Reef and Wreck Bar, and Sandsational Smoothies. Some highlights include:

Adults-Only Activities at Lighthouse Point

Similar to Disney Castaway Cay, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point features adult-exclusive areas. Here's what you can enjoy:

  • Serenity Bay: Relax in a peaceful sanctuary on the adults-only beach. Bask in the sun and enjoy a refreshing swim in the warm waters. It's situated at the northernmost part of Lookout Cay — once you get off the tram, turn left and continue until you pass the Serenity Bay cabanas.

  • Serenity Bay Cabanas: For those desiring a touch of luxury, you can book a private open-air cabana. These offer a splendid way to indulge in a day of complete relaxation. Note that these cabanas are positioned between the family beach and the adults-only beach.

  • Serenity Bay BBQ: Savor island-inspired dishes and refreshing drinks at the beachside dining spot.

  • Blue Hole Bar: The exclusive adults-only bar located in Serenity Bay.

Lighthouse Point Activities for the Kids

Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point offers fantastic attractions and activities exclusively for the little ones.

  • Sebastian's Cove:  This Disney youth club at Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point allows children to join in supervised games and activities, providing the parents with some well-earned relaxation time. It's situated at the southernmost part of Lookout Cay — once you get off the tram, turn right and go past True-True BBQ.

    • Kids-only dining: After a day of water fun, children can recharge in their dedicated dining area within Sebastian's Cove.

    • Water Play Area: Inspired by the "Little Mermaid," there is a themed splash pad for play and cooling off.

  • Rush Out Gush Out: Stay cool and enjoy a day of splashing at this large, colorful family water play area. It is centrally located next to the Goombay Cultural Center.

Our Top Tips for Visiting

Here are a few things I recommend to make the most of your day at Lookout Cay:

  • Prepare for the pier walk: To reach Lighthouse Point, you'll need to walk across an open-trestle pier, taking about 10-15 minutes. The walk is completely uncovered, and the sun can be intense even in the morning, so ensure you have sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable shoes. Wagons are available on a first-come, first-served basis, but if you have young children, consider bringing a lightweight travel stroller. The pier has two lanes — one for walking guests and another for golf carts for those requiring assistance. Although it seems long, it's manageable, with fun music, a pleasant ocean breeze, and beautiful views along the way.

  • Request assistance early: For guests with mobility needs, visit Guest Services onboard as soon as possible to request assistance. Disney will assign a time for a golf cart ride to Mabrika Cove.

  • Arrive early: To maximize your day, disembark from the ship early to secure a great beach spot, especially if you want a prime location near the family beach or adults-only beach.

  • Pack smart: Remember essentials like sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and swimwear. The island's vegetation is new, so there is currently limited shade, but this could change in the future! You might also want water shoes for rocky areas. Due to the long pier and tram ride, forgetting something could mean nearly an hour of roundtrip transportation, as the pier walk takes about 10-15 minutes (one way) and the tram ride about 10 minutes (one way). Both adults and children need to present their Key to the World card to embark and disembark the ship. Adults will also need a government-issued ID.

  • Towels and beach gear: Disney provides towels on the island, so there's no need to bring them from the ship. Snorkeling equipment can also be rented on the island.

  • Character meet-and-greets: Watch for Disney characters making appearances on the island. It's a fun chance to take photos and get autographs with characters dressed in colorful outfits inspired by the local Junkanoo festival! Character greeting times and locations are listed in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app.

  • Stay hydrated: The Caribbean sun can be intense. Be sure to drink plenty of water to stay cool throughout the day.

  • Relax and enjoy: While activities are available, Lighthouse Point is an ideal place to simply unwind and soak up the sun. Don't forget to actually relax while you're there!

  • Mind the time: Allow plenty of time to return to the ship by your scheduled departure. We recommend leaving your beach spot at least a half hour before — if not more, depending on your itinerary (especially if you want to shower before dinner or the live theater show).

Naturally, you might wonder, "Should I choose between Castaway Cay or Lookout Cay?" If an itinerary including both is not possible and you must pick just one, here's our main takeaway: It's truly difficult to compare the two. They each have distinct vibes and offer unique experiences. Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point may be the perfect destination if:

  • You're an experienced cruiser (particularly with Disney Cruise Line) and want to try something new.

  • You wish to learn more about the Bahamian culture and be immersed with authentic traditions, art, and more.

  • You appreciate the natural beauty of Eleuthera.

  • You prefer a more relaxed overall vibe.
